I have been leading the implementation of Open Source technologies in Limerick City Council which has become the first local authority in Ireland to move from proprietary office and email solutions to open source software. I am interested in how organizations can gain freedom of choice, avoid vendor lock-in and generate savings by implementing Open Source Software to become more efficient and to deliver improved, cost effective ICT services. I am also interested in improving public services in general with a focus on local government services.
